For four hundred years God remained silent. Disease, war, and despair devastated the earth. World changing empires rose and fell. Israel again slipped into the bondage oppression of a foreign power and the people of God once again cried for God to show Himself and bring relief. But days passed into years as no new word was heard from God. The light of faith flickered and faded among the people of God as evil prevailed and hope seemed but a shadow.
Then one night a baby cried in Bethlehem and God became flesh and dwelt among men. The shepherds became aware of this baby’s cry by angelic announcement and it changed them from sheep herders into savior seekers. Wise men “heard” this baby’s cry via a star message which compelled them across thousands of miles to worship and adore Him. A baby cried and it moved men. This baby’s cry echoed through the halls of time and brought hope to hearts, meaning to life, and peace to multitudes of people. His birth became the reference point for time, the driving force for world exploration, and the foundation stone for countries and colleges. A baby cried and the world changed.
Kingdom leaders still wreak havoc and men still work wickedness but now there is hope and help because a baby cried and God opened His arms to invite mankind into His family. It is indeed a time to celebrate!
