This message you’re about to read goes out to a lot of different people, even people like myself. It’s for the person who only goes to events because a certain somebody is going to be there. For the girl who loves a good party, but won’t go out on the dance floor until other people do. It’s for the person who has expectations for everything and gives a weird look to anybody who doesn’t meet them. Y’all best watch out, this one’s gonna hit hard.
You know that part in The Notebook where it gets all chaotic and emotional at the end, and Ryan Gosling’s like, “Would you stop thinking about what everybody wants? Stop thinking about what I want, what he wants, what your parents want! What do you want? What do YOU want?” Well you know what I want? For you to ask yourself that same question and answer with complete honesty. Take your time, think about it.
Most of you are going to say you want to be happy. Good answer. That could mean sitting on the porch with a golden Labrador smiling back at ya or carving pumpkins and drinking hot chocolate on a cold day with family; whatever floats your boat. It’s so easy to have the picture painted out in your head of how you want things to go, but it’s even easier to have the paint smeared. I’m talking about when you feel confident about your outfit, then you see what Chelsea’s wearing and immediately feel insecure and rethink your decision. When you’re excited about football season coming up but none of your friends really care so you end up not going to any games. Nah, that’s pathetic.
Matthew 26:50 says, “Jesus said, ‘My friend, go ahead and do what you have come for.’ Then the others grabbed Jesus and arrested him.” I don’t know how you interpret that, but I say as long as God would approve of what you’re doing or what you love, go for it! Someone’s always going to have to throw in their opinion but what does it matter? The more time you spend caring what other people think of you, the more lost you get. Why look up to someone who makes you doubt yourself when you can follow the One who sees something worth dying for in you!?
Don’t tell me you want to be a dancer if you don’t have the guts to perform in front of your class. No honey, we’re not letting some bones and a smirk stop us, if you want it then go get it! Don’t say you love Jesus Christ with all of your heart and soul if you look down at your feet every single time you get the opportunity to share his glory with someone else.
It’s time to quit doing things just to make other people happy when they’re not willing to do the same for you! It’s time for you to quit getting let down by people who aren’t even worth your time! I’m here to remind you that reckless means not thinking or caring about the consequences of an action. I strive to do that everyday 4 Jesus and I pray you do too. But in order to do that, you have got to see the bigger picture! “And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul?” -Mark 8:36
Do one thing today if you don’t do anything else. Get out of your pride and get lost in love. Love what you do and really mean it. Show it, be proud of it, own it. Walk it like you talk it. Oh yes I did just said that. Haha. Most importantly, don’t wait for happiness to come around. You make it the new trend starting today.
