You know those times where you feel like you’re about to lose your Christianity? Whether you’re about to go off on someone because they were talking about your mama, or so much crap is going on in your life and you just don’t see the way out. Like yo, God? Hey um, I’m going to hit the pause button real quick so I can tell somebody off, and maybe go do something stupid. No. No. No. You don’t get a smoke break. I don’t care if you’re in a bad situation and think God wouldn’t ever come in the room you’re in. He’s been in there, done and seen all that! Your job is to always serve our Almighty God and that’s what we’re going to do.
How to steer away from temptations:
- Talk to God
“‘Why are you sleeping?’ he asked them. ‘Get up and pray, so that you will not give in to temptation.’ -Luke 22:46
No, I’m not joking and shame on the people who say you look stupid if they see you doing this. I’ve been in countless situations where I felt hopeless, then no lie, a hymn popped into my head, or I heard God talking me through it. One time I remember clear as day, was when mama told me we had to move houses and start a new school. For the 4th time. I was heartbroken because starting over was the last thing I wanted to do. But something told me it wouldn’t be that bad. I can recall telling myself, God wouldn’t of given you this life if you weren’t strong enough to live it.
2. Accept The Challenge
“Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow.” – James 1:2-3
Okay, I’ll admit it. I’m glad I moved all of those times. It exposed me to all sorts of people, opportunities, and experiences. Don’t get me wrong, I miss some friends and family that I don’t get to see on a daily basis anymore, but I’m just grateful I get to see them at all. Some people choose to see divorce as a door that leads to nothing but unfairness and chaos. When in reality, it just gives you the chance to leave where you’re at, and go better yourself. It allows you to get out of your comfort zone and build a new solid foundation.
I know it’s a hard pill to swallow and it’s soooo much easier to let your head down, but guys! Listen here! You can thank Adam and Eve for the curse, the world just isn’t fair. God battles Satan for us everyday. But how can it get any better when we don’t move forward! Why turn to evil when evil is the darn thing that brought us down?? Now that’s not fair to God. Quit turning away from the man that offers you chance after chance. He loves you and I oh so very much. More than anybody could ever guess. He knows when the struggle is real and has all of the solutions, so why don’t we answer the phone when we need Him the most?
