Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight. 1 Peter 3:3-4
As most of you know – I am a cosmetologist whose job is to make ladies feel beautiful everyday. There is nothing that warms my heart more than turning my clients around to the mirror and seeing them smile. As a society, we get caught up with trying to keep up with the latest fashions – and honestly just flat out worried about what everybody else thinks about us. But why do we even bother worrying about others? MY God says “You are Beautiful, for you are fearfully and wonderfully made.” Psalm 139:14
Why are we seeking everyone else’s approval if we have Our One True King, The Great I Am, The Redeemer, The One and Only tell us we are beautiful and He made us just how He wants us? Now listen ladies, I am saying we because I face the same battles you do – it takes one to know one.. RIGHT? We have to take the most perfect picture for our social media accounts, but in reality our life is far from perfect – I know mine is.
We as individuals seek validation from all the wrong things for all the wrong reasons. Society puts the best filter on pictures for Instagram, just to get a like – again just for validation. I have a love hate relationship with social media. It can be used for so many good reasons, but can also be used for so many bad ones. My life motto is, if you can’t use it for something positive and to uplift others THEN WHY POST IT?
I challenge each of you today to seek your validation from God who doesn’t owe you any explanation except YOU ARE A CHILD OF GOD… you are wonderfully made, dearly loved, and precious in His sight. Before God made you, He knew you… there is no one else like you! Psalm 139
